Can weeds “sniff” out their prey? Recent study from Penn State published in Science suggests that the parasitic strangleweed can detect chemicals produced by its preferred host, the tomato plant. The strangleweed may use these airborne chemicals as a targeting cue to grow towards the host plant.

“Flock of Dodos” takes a hard look at the Intelligent Design v Evolution debate A documentary examining the motivation and stategies of Intelligent Design and Evolution proponents. “Flock of Dodos” was created by filmaker (and biologist) Dr. Randy Olson. The dodos in the film’s title refer not to the ID’ers, but to the scientists. The point is that science is suffering from a huge public relations problem. There’s an interview with Dr. Olson here.
